Big Red Barn Retreat is proud to announce it has been named by the South Carolina Secretary of State, Mark Hammond, a 2019 Angel for our exemplary charitable giving in South Carolina.  To be selected as an Angel, the BRBR had to devote 80% or more of its total expenditures to charitable programs; been in existence for three years or more; must make good use of volunteer services; receive minimal funding from grants and must be in compliance with the South Carolina Solicitation of Charitable Funds Act. The Big Red Barn Retreat donates 94.2% of its total expenditures to programs that help veterans and active duty service members struggling with military or combat related stress issues. 

The Hobbs Group, P.A., Certified Public Accountants and Consultants was established on November 1, 1986. Our firm has two offices, our primary office located at 1704 Laurel Street, Columbia, South Carolina 29201, and a second office located 125 West Stone Avenue, Greenville, South Carolina 29609. For over thirty years, we have provided audit and attestation, tax, small business assistance, and consulting and advisory services to a variety of clients located throughout the Southeastern United States. All of our audit engagements are staffed out of our Columbia office, which is comprised of five shareholders, two principals, one director, five managers, three seniors, four staff, one audit intern, five paraprofessionals, and four administrative personnel. 

The Firm specializes in audits of nonprofit organizations, including but not limited to, foundations, United Way affiliates, child welfare organizations, rescue missions, emergency assistance organizations and religious organizations. We also conduct audits of state government agencies and municipalities, technical colleges and retirement plans. Our Firm performs approximately fifty nonprofit and governmental audits annually. 

The Firm’s nonprofit audit staff is comprised of three shareholders, three managers, one senior, three staff accountants and one audit intern. It is the policy of our Firm to have extensive shareholder involvement during our audits; therefore, there will be continuous shareholder supervision and involvement during the process of your audits. 

The Shareholders in our Firm are properly licensed certified public accountants in the State of South Carolina. The Shareholder that would be assigned to this engagement is an experienced certified public accountant and was licensed in July 1999. Our Firm meets the independence standards under generally accepted auditing standards promulgated by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the independence standards of the GAO Standards for Audits of Governmental Organizations, Programs, Activities, and Functions.
